Consists primarily of the papers of Roberta Lee Randolph (1873- 1978) of "Redlands," Fauquier County, Va. Included are diaries, 1902- 1961, of daily events; correspondence, 1923-1950, with friends regarding family history; commonplace books, 1910-1949, containing notes on poetry, art, and Colonial Virginia history; and a 1910 scrapbook of souvenirs from a trip to Europe. Also in the collection are papers of her parents, Mary Semmes (Hoxton) Randolph (1846-1930) and Buckner Magill Randolph (1842- 1903), including diaries, 1905-1929; an account book, 1870-1871, containing financial records; an undated memoir describing his participation, as a member of the 49th Virginia Infantry, in the Battle of First Bull Run; and a commonplace book, 1900-1901, filled with assorted verse. Other items include an undated memoir by Llewellyn Griffith Hoxton (1838?-1891) of his service in the Confederate Army of Tennessee; a 1909 memoir by William Fitzhugh Randolph (1831-1914) describing the Battle of Cross Keys; and genealogical notes concerning the Carter, Isham, Magill, and Randolph families.
